The PGA Tour's 2026 schedule features the return of the Blue Monster at Doral and the cancellation of The Sentry.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — The PGA Tour has unveiled a largely familiar but crucially tweaked schedule for the 2026 season, featuring a delayed start and the return of a historic venue.

Sentry Cancelled, Sony Open to Lead

In a surprising development, The Sentry at Kapalua has been cancelled for 2026 due to unforeseen agronomic issues affecting the Plantation Course. As a result, the season will not begin on the first week of January.

Instead, the Sony Open in Hawaii (Jan 15-18) will serve as the official season opener. This shifting of the calendar gives players an extra two weeks of offseason rest following the conclusion of the 2025 Hero World Challenge and PNC Championship.

The Blue Monster Returns

Perhaps the most exciting news for traditionalists is the return of Doral. The famed Blue Monster course in Miami will host the newly minted Miami Championship (April 30 - May 3).

This event replaces the previous spring date held by other venues and is designated as a Signature Event, meaning the top players in the world will once again face the intimidating 18th hole at Doral.

"Bringing the PGA Tour back to Doral feels like restoring a piece of history," said Commissioner Jay Monahan. "The drama that the Blue Monster produces is unmatched."

Implications for the Presidents Cup

The 2026 schedule is designed to build momentum toward the Presidents Cup at Medinah in September. With the season ending in late August at the Tour Championship, players will have a focused preparation window before heading to Chicago for the biennial clash.
