TGL Report: Atlanta Drive GC Starts Hot, WTGL League Announced
Atlanta Drive GC goes 2-0 to start TGL Season 2, while the LPGA and TMRW Sports unveil the historic formation of the women's WTGL league.
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — The second season of TGL presented by SoFi is officially underway, bringing high-tech team golf back to primetime, but the biggest headline of the new year might just be the expansion of the franchise model to the women's game.
Atlanta Drive GC's Fast Start
Defending a title is never easy, but Atlanta Drive GC has picked up exactly where they left off. The champions of the inaugural season have stormed out of the gates in Season 2, securing a perfect 2-0 record in the opening weeks.
Following a decisive season-opening victory (7-5) over New York Golf Club on December 28, Atlanta continued their dominance with a 7-4 win over The Bay Golf Club on January 6. Their chemistry and comfort within the SoFi Center's unique format remain the gold standard for the league.
Rory's Boston Common Secures First Win
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy's Boston Common Golf gave their fans a reason to celebrate on January 2. After a winless debut season that baffled pundits, the star-studded squad finally broke through, defeating Los Angeles Golf Club 7-5.
"It was a much-needed victory for the squad," McIlroy noted after the match, emphasizing the team's ability to execute under pressure.
Historic Announcement: Welcome to WTGL
While the men battled on the simulator, TMRW Sports (founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy) and the LPGA dropped a massive announcement: the launch of WTGL.
Set to debut in the winter of 2026/27, the WTGL will bring the same tech-infused, team-based format to the best female golfers in the world. The league will operate in partnership with the LPGA, providing a primetime showcase for stars like Nelly Korda and Lilia Vu.
The new league aims to present athletes in a new light and engage a modern audience through this tech-infused format.
