A new host on the Melbourne Sandbelt

Why Kingston Heath matters

Kingston Heath will host the Presidents Cup for the first time in 2028. The competition has visited Melbourne three times before, at Royal Melbourne in 1998, 2011 and 2019. This return takes the teams to another of the city's celebrated Sandbelt courses.

The venue was announced in June 2023. Kingston Heath's routing was designed by Dan Soutar, with bunkering shaped by Alister MacKenzie. The course is known for strategic choices, firm playing surfaces and carefully placed sand hazards. Its appeal comes from the questions it asks of a player's next shot, as well as the quality of the strike.

For spectators following the course before the Cup, its history includes Australian Opens, Australian Masters and the 2016 World Cup of Golf. The club describes its par threes and emphasis on shot-making as defining features. Those characteristics offer useful context for a match-play competition, where an opponent's position can change the risk a player is willing to take.
